This aligns with the hypothesis that those who would have been persuaded by securitizing arguments were already convinced before the study, leading to a decline in TikTok usage. Consequently, the remaining high-frequency TikTok users comprised individuals who were not persuaded by securitizing arguments and did not significantly differ from high-frequency users of Instagram.
Non-Users’ Trust Response: The study also examined the trust levels of non-users of TikTok and Instagram. Before treatment, non-users displayed varying levels of trust between the two apps. However, after exposure to arguments, their trust distributions did not significantly differ.
